if you can't do something with an open heart

it is not a kindness to accept abuse.

aside from not being good for you, it's not good for the abuser, either. it teaches him (or her) that it's okay to be hurtful. if you can't make the abuse stop, you can (almost always) walk away from it. refuse to interact with people who abuse.
